Searching for A Moment of Reflection

March 23, 2011 |  by  |  momofthree

I was watching an old video of Light talking about meditation… …”Even if you do it for 5 minutes…” is what struck me. So here I am this morning, lying in my bed. The alarm clock has gone off twice, and I have 10 minutes before I HAVE to get up and get the kids ready for school. Ok so “…Even if you do it for 5 minutes…” pops into my head and I decide, meditation 101 here I come.

As Im lying there on my back, eyes closed, arms comfortably laying spread wide like a cross. I cleared my mind and began my mantra (given to me by my meditation teacher). My five minutes went something like this…

Mantra…
Mantra…
Mantra…
What are my boys doing outside my door right now?
Why are they not getting ready for school?
What are they going through? what is that sound?
Is it raining?
Stop Jaimi, get back to your Mantra…
Mantra…
Mantra…
Mantra…
Suddenly Russell Simmons pops into my head
Then I hear my kids running in the hallway
Mantra…
Mantra…
Mantra…
Then I start talking to myself! What is supposed to happen?
Am I waiting for something?
No..Ok…
Mantra…
Mantra…
Mantra…
Just let your mind go blank…
Think of nothing…
I cant do that…(Im having a full on conversation with myself in my head)
Next thing I hear…
“Mom! I cant find my shoes!”
Ok, Im up…

  1. I so know that feeling…

“Is something supposed to happen?” Or rather, “when is something supposed to happen?” …and “Why am I doing this?” and… “What is this exactly?”

    LOL

Thanks for sharing this. Now I know I’m not alone! lol
