How Roundup Russy Lost 30 Pounds and Flattened His Belly
My weight loss journey started with a picture. I saw photos from an Annual Memorial Day cookout and from a reception in August where myself and my brother were honored at Howard University for creating BisonRoundup. I saw something that I had never thought about before… the look of having “let go”.
I have always been an athlete, from my days of Karate, Tae Kwon Do, and every season of Soccer, Basketball and Baseball throughout my junior high school and High School years. When I left College (Howard University C/O ’04) I found a job and a cheap place to live in a new city and I found myself going out to party, and drinking and eating how I pleased. I was no longer playing sports, I called myself going to the gym, but it ended up just being a task; I ended up doing the same routines in the gym and it became mundane with no noticeable results.
Flash back to the moment that I saw this photo… I knew it was time to make a change, and I knew it had to come with sacrifice. I knew that I would have to completely overhaul my diet to start with and I would have to reprogram my thoughts of eating. I could no longer use food as an emotional crutch and I had to re-evaluate the word “hungry”. I came up with this diet after I got the biggest box of trash bags the local grocery store had and threw out everything in my cabinets and refrigerator.. I mean EVERYTHING.
My GodBody Diet:
– Abstinence from Alcohol
– Abstinence from Sex
– At least 6 hours of sleep every night
– No packaged food unless it is signified as Organic
– Consume a gallon of water every day
– No farmed fish or meat
– Dairy products must be cage free, non- homogenized
– 3 days of cardio workout. Can include core workouts for strength training (i.e. Yoga, Pilates, Swimming)
I call this my GodBody Diet. This diet which I now believe in as a LIFESTYLE helped me to lose 30 pounds over the last year and a half. Now I know that by looking at it there are some things that you immediately tell yourself like, “Its going to be hard to maintain.” But the great thing about this lifestyle is that it is practiced in 30 day periods. Depending on your calendar year, you can plan this lifestyle 30 or 60 days out from an important event, reunion, Homecoming or vacation. The more frequent you practice it, the easier it will become and the longer you can comfortably prolong the length of time. I personally practiced GodBody Diet for 5 months straight as my longest stint.
I went from 239lbs to 209lbs, with that said, I have also lost 2 inches around my waist and my stomach (always my problem area) and slimmed down considerably. Even during off months, I avoid junk food and still find myself going to the gym. Don’t get me wrong.. during the off periods, vacation, etc, I still enjoy myself, I socially drink and even satisfy my sweet tooth; but I now take things in moderation because I don’t want to spoil all of the hard work I have put in and sacrifice my new body.
