Power Bands – Phooey!

May 12, 2011 |  by  |  Products

Come on admit it, you bought one didn’t you? Raise you hand, don’t be embarrassed, enough of you did.

The Power Balance wristband has sold over 2 million since it hit the market in 2007, and has since become the accessory that no A-List celebrity or athlete could be seen without.

California entrepreneur Josh Rodamel, founder of Power Balance, claimed that wearing the wristbands with its special inset hologram would increase the wearers balance, strength, flexibility and natural energy.

The company has now admitted that there is no scientific evidence behind the claims and that they are no more beneficial than an ordinary rubber band.

Power Balance was forced to make the admission by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC). The company maintains it’s money back guarantee and is offering refunds to consumers who believe they were misled. They also have to remove the words “performance technology” from the bands.
