How to Fit in More Exercise: Dance Like No One is Watching

June 9, 2011 |  by  |  Activity Ideas, Be Moore

Wellness is a lifestyle. It’s about living in such a way that equals sustainable happiness. We’re talking a looooong life, full of smiles laughter and fun, that requires the least number of doctor visits, surgeries, or medications. Sounds good right?

One thing that turns people off to the word “wellness” is the thought that living well means they have to become gym rats and spend all their free between the bench press and the treadmill. Contraire mon frer, wellness to me means flowers on the table, fresh veggies, great music, great travel, and so much more.

Here’s my challenge to you. Make an opportunity today to dance. Yeah I know you can 2-step, I’m not talking about that. Dance out-loud. Pick a great song and dance like you’re on stage. Dance like thousands of people are paying for a show. Grab a hair brush and sing along if it helps. Get your heart smiling and do it for as long as you can. 3, 4, 5 songs!

For you advanced folks ready for a little more, take this challenge: do it in public.

Life belongs to the doers. Be sure to email me a photo or a video link at alumniwellness [at] gmail dot com. I’ll publish the ones that look you’re having the most fun.

PS: I posted a few of my inspirations below. GUARANTEED dance potential. Let me know what you think. Also BE SURE to subscribe to our RSS feed, and hit the “like” button on facebook for me.
