UK Study Links Diet to IQ in Kids

A study recently published in the UK suggests that fatty, sugary, and processed foods (read EVERYTHING fast food) may lower children’s IQs. Conversely a diet that is rich in nutrients and vitamins may have the opposite effect.

Published in February in the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health, researchers gathered their data by studying a cohort of hearly 4000 children in 1991-92. The study monitored the diet and IQs of kids ages 3, 4, 7, and 8. Their IQs dropped about 2% for every increment on a chart showing the amount of processed fats they ate.
